Robert Kaplan currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Development of Spring Valley III and Spring Valley IV, and as Chief Financial Officer of Spring Valley II. Mr. Kaplan previously served as Vice President of Business Development of Spring Valley I from its inception in November 2020 until the closing of the NuScale merger in May 2022. Mr. Kaplan has been designated to serve as a director of the combined company following the completion of the proposed business combination between Spring Valley II and Eagle Energy Metals Corp.
Mr. Kaplan has been involved in more than 60 transactions totaling approximately $6 billion in aggregate transaction value, with notable transactions including First Solar, Plug Power, FuelCell Energy, Renewable Energy Group, and SunPower Corporation. Prior to joining the Spring Valley platform, Mr. Kaplan served as Managing Director of Clean Technologies / Renewables at Stifel Financial Corp., where he led capital markets and advisory services across a range of decarbonization subsectors, including clean energy, biofuels, energy storage, energy efficiency, mobility, and environmental technologies.
Mr. Kaplan joined Stifel in 2010 in connection with the firm’s acquisition of Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. He previously served as a Vice President in the Technology investment banking group at Thomas Weisel Partners, focusing on decarbonization technologies, and began his investment banking career at First Albany as a founding member of one of Wall Street’s first decarbonization-focused investment banking franchises. Mr. Kaplan holds a B.S. in Finance from Lehigh University and an M.B.A. from the NYU Stern School of Business.
